Stay United

STAY UNITED – A community action and volunteering group for retirees.

Whether you are retired or thinking about it, this is the place for you.

Are you planning for retirement? Already embarked on the journey? Either way, United Way is here to keep you connected to meaningful experiences in your community. Join neighbors, colleagues, or peers who — like you — are looking forward to what’s next.

If you are over 50 and interested in working on volunteer projects with like-minded individuals and in learning about the ways people in Greater Nashua are coming together to build a strong community, you’re invited to join Stay United! This group meets monthly to develop projects and educational opportunities for Greater Nashua retirees.

Projects

“Coffee and Causes” – United Way’s ”Coffee and Causes” gatherings are a great way for retirees and other interested adults to gain information about resources and volunteer opportunities available to them in the community. Each month United Way invites experts to talk about their topic. Local non-profit groups are invited to share information about their volunteer opportunities as well. Lively discussion is encouraged! Programs are normally held on the first Friday of the month. Locations rotate throughout the 11-town area served by United Way of Greater Nashua. Contact United Way at info@unitedwaynashua.org or (603)882-4011 with questions about this series.

“Wee Read United” – This is a story time projects for pre school-aged children at agencies serving low-income families. Volunteers read stories and do crafts and sing songs with the children.

“Let’s Talk” – This is an online conversation project for homebound older adults. Volunteers are needed to help manage the program, participate in weekly chats, and promote the program to older adults who might benefit from becoming part of a community.

Volunteers are also needed to help fundraise for all the projects above.
