United Way and Barnes & Noble Donate Books to Soup Kitchen

UW Soup KitchenIn collaboration with Barnes and Noble, United Way of Greater Nashua recently made a donation of hundreds of children’s books to the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter. The books were a result of employee and customer contributions made over the holidays and will be used by the clients of the Soup Kitchen for reading programs on site as well as to be taken home to foster and encourage childhood literacy. According to Mike Apfelberg, President of United Way “We are proud of this collaboration with Barnes and Noble and the Soup Kitchen in furthering and enriching the reading experiences of our most vulnerable younger citizens. Through partnerships like this, we are able to help move the needle on childhood literacy, a key impact area for United Way under the umbrella of health, education, and economic mobility.” Shown in the picture are Lisa Christie, Executive Director of the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter and Mike Apfelberg, President of United Way of Greater Nashua. The photograph was taken in front of the NSKS facility on Quincy Street in Nashua. For more information about NSKS contact them at 603.889.7770.
