United Way of Greater Nashua would like to extend a huge “THANK YOU” to the customers and employees of Barnes and Noble on Daniel Webster Highway in South Nashua! During this years’ Holiday Book Drive, Barnes and Noble collected over 1,000 books for children and adolescents in the Greater Nashua Area. The local drive was part of a national effort by Barnes and Noble that collected 1.5 million books for children in need. These books were distributed by United Way to a myriad of agencies throughout the community for use in their year-round “lending libraries.”
According to United Way President Michael Apfelberg “The books we were able to collect from Barnes and Noble in South Nashua went to agencies such as Girls Inc., The Youth Council, The Front Door Agency, The YMCA, Lamprey Health Care, and many others. These books are used throughout the year to enrich the lives of children throughout our community. Reading success is a key indicator of increased probability that a child will graduate high school, attend college, secure a job, earn a higher salary and be engaged in the community. We are grateful to the customers and employees of Barnes and Noble for their generous support.”
