Our Community Investment volunteers take their accountability to the donor very seriously and part of that responsibility is remaining faithful to the results of the Community Assessment. All of their decisions are guided by those results so that we are helping people who really need help.
Part of United Way's stringent accountability standards require our agencies to measure program outcomes. In the past, we wanted to know how many visits were made to a particular client. With Outcomes, we ask the agency to report how the client's life has been improved as a result of the visits. United Way also seeks to create lasting changes in community conditions through its community impact strategy.
Additionally, United Way provides other Services to Agencies that add value to their relationship with us. We act as a clearinghouse for Gifts In Kind donations, such as toys and clothing that are given out at holiday time. We also offer opportunities for our agencies to improve their operations, such as Speaker Training workshops.
United Way of Greater Nashua makes measurable improvements in lives by mobilizing the caring power of our communities.
We seek to be a supportive resource to both our extended family of agencies and the community as a whole. The Community Assessment, which is the basis for our volunteers' funding decisions, is the heart of what United Way is all about. Every two to three years, United Way facilitates a comprehensive study of our community's "health." The Community Assessment is an objective, unbiased report that allows us to gain an accurate snapshot of what is and isn't working in our community.
Contrary to what some may think, United Way does not allow volunteers to decide who gets dollars based on preference or popularity. The Assessment is the foundation for the "system of caring" United Way is building in our community.
