Mother’s Day Roses for local Homeless Moms

Ongoing fundraiser through 5/3.

Every mom deserves to feel special on Mother’s Day. To help make this happen, the United Way of Greater Nashua partners with UPS each year to purchase and donate roses to homeless mothers on Mother’s Day.

We will be delivering the roses to The Front Door Agency, Anne-Marie House, Marguerite’s Place, Inc., Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter, Inc., Harbor Homes, Keystone Hall, Bridges Domestic Violence, and Mary’s House.

Community Farming Day of Caring 4/25

Time: 9-2 PM

Place: Dr. Crisp Elementary School – 50 Arlington Street, Nashua, NH

Join us as we help build raised planter beds for a community, school garden. These gardens will help teach students and community members about sustainability, food systems, nutrition, cooking, and plant sciences. This project will work to combat food insecurity and foster healthy choices to help resolve macro health issues in our community.

Want to volunteer but have never gardened before? Not an issue, our partner, Grow Nashua, will be there to lead the way in this hands on, dig in the dirt, Day of Caring.

2019 Retiree Brunch on Volunteering 5/2

9-11 am — Southern NH Health, 10 Prospect Street, Nashua, NH 03060

Retirees and soon-to-be retirees are invited to join United Way of Greater Nashua and the Greater Nashua Food Council for a FREE community meal and discussion about what retirees can do to help their communities.. Speakers will include United Way of Greater Nashua, The Greater Nashua Food Council, Southern New Hampshire Health, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), Grow Nashua, The Adult Learning Center, and Hillsborough County Gleaners and is partially sponsored through a grant from Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. The event will take place in Southern New Hampshire Medical Center on May 2 at 9:00am.

Planned Giving and Estate Planning Lunch ‘N Learn 5/9

11:30 am to 1:30 PM — Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce

Community Baby Shower Day of Caring 5/23

Time: 4-7 PM

Place: Nashua Community College – 505 Amherst Street, Nashua, NH

Join us for our 3rd Annual Community Baby Shower supporting young, low income families in the Greater Nashua area. We want to help these families start out on the right foot! The event will include information and resources for new moms and dads. We will also be hosting a Baby Boutique to help these new parents get some of the essential items they need to welcome their baby into the world.

If you would like to donate items to the Baby Boutique, stay tuned for our gift registry which you will be able to find here.

If you are interested in volunteering for the event, we will need people to help with setup the day before (5/22) as well as the day of the event (5/23).

Food Packaging Day of Caring 6/5

Time: 1-5 PM

Place: SHARE Outreach – 1 Columbus Ave, Milford, NH

Help us as we package 10,000 meals for the food pantries of Greater Nashua. Donations tend to decline following the holiday season and many families who rely on school lunch programs during the school year need to find alternatives come June, this event produces food for emergency reserves during the difficult summer months.

This volunteer opportunity is family friendly and open to anyone who wants to participate in a hands-on, energy packed experience which directly fights hunger in our community.

Volunteer Fair – Hosted by United Way of Greater Nashua and the Nashua Public Library — June 6, 2019

United Way of Greater Nashua and the Nashua Public Library are partnering to present a volunteer fair spotlighting agencies and non-profits in the Greater Nashua area who work with volunteers to make a difference in our community. Volunteering is a great way to stay connected to the community, interact with people you wouldn’t ordinarily meet, learn about the issues that our community is facing,  and work together to make a positive change. Have you ever wanted to really go out on a limb to support your community? We are joining forces with 20 other non-profits to go OVER THE EDGE and rappel 300 feet from the top of the Brady Sullivan Tower all in support of the Greater Nashua community.

We are taking on this challenge because we believe in teamwork and what we can accomplish when we come together to advocate our community. Support our team that will be rappelling down 24 floors by donating here.

United Way “Celebration of U!” 2019 7/10

UNITED WE SLEEP 2019 9/20-21

Time: 5 PM Friday to 9 AM Saturday

Place: Nashua Community College – 505 Amherst Street, Nashua, NH

For one night in September, join fellow community members in learning about the level of poverty that exists and exploring pathways to success in the greater Nashua community. You will learn from local experts as you participate in a unique, experience of a sleep out in a cardboard box at Nashua Communtiy College. You can make a difference preventing and eliminating homelessness in our community.

Shoebox Project Day of Caring 12/2

Time: 9 AM- Noon

Place: Nashua Senior Center – 70 Temple Street, Nashua, NH

We prioritize keeping seniors in our community safe and smart – especially our homebound, low income seniors. This event is a great opportunity to help us make this happen.

Join us as we put together care packages for our local seniors. Each year we determine a theme for our care packages that truly aids a challenge our senior community faces, for example last year we created memory care kits.
